“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
Spiritual FOOD TODAY the verse we are sharing today is Isaiah 55:8-11, where the prophet Isaiah conveys and emphasizes that our God Father’s thoughts are completely different from our thoughts. Our sovereign God has a different view of everything that happens in our lives. Likewise, His solution to our dilemmas is different from what we expect. When you trust the Lord, God will do what is best for you.
In their sermon “God Knows What’s Best for You,” Rev. Bob & Mrs. Debby Gass quoted Proverbs 19:21 to explain the situation where “We May Not Always Understand Why Things Happen.” This proverb reveals to us that the human heart has many plans, but only the Lord’s will can be realized. Rev. Bob went on to explain, “The devil will tempt us into the details.” However, for us, God’s redeemed children, He will go into the details to save us! It is human nature to feel disappointed when you set your mind to do something and it does not work out. In this case, you need to remember two things: 1. You are always working with limited information. You may know what you want the end result to be, but God knows what is best for you and will plan accordingly, as the prophet conveys God’s words to us in Isaiah 46:9-10, saying, “... I am God … (I) I know the end from the beginning ... My purpose will come to pass, my purpose will be accomplished”; (2) Trying to act outside of God’s will is like trying to dig through a solid wall with a fork. If you force your way into doing what you want, then you are not digging a way out of prison, but a way into prison. Do you really want to carry out God’s unordained plans? Can you rely on God to know what is best for you? As the prophet assured us believers before in Isaiah 14:27: “The LORD of hosts has a plan, who can stop it? His hand is stretched out, who can turn it back?”
It is always better to be disappointed temporarily than to end up in an outcome that is beyond our control. Take the example of the Israelites in the Old Testament. The story of the Israelites' Exodus from Egypt records this: "He ... God redeemed them from the hands of their enemies ... Then they believed his words and sang praises to him. However, they soon forgot his deeds and were unwilling to wait for his guidance. They ... tested God in the wilderness. As recorded in Psalm 106:10, 12-15, God answered their request but sent a plague among them." Therefore, we must trust God and He will give you the best. Fortunately, we have this heavenly Father who knows what is best for us. Pray that everyone can follow and trust in the Lord to the end, and continue pray that God will have mercy and grace on us to guide ourselves according to God's words in Proverbs 3:5-6, receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and accept the places where God's gifts can be received: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
