Apostle Paul exhorts us by saying: “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions — it is by grace you have been saved.”
「灵粮分享 TODAY’s Sharing」: 今晨在 「圣经日日行 Bible Day by Day」里,读到甘力克牧师 Rev.
Bible Day by Day" this morning, I read the sharing of "Aloud for Mercy" written by Rev. Nicky Gumbel. Rev. Gumbel quoted Psalm 6:1-10, describing that when King David was in trouble, he called on the mercy of the Lord, which is the theme of "「今日灵粮 Spiritual Food TODAY」" to share on "God's Unfailing Love and Mercy". Rev. Gumbel asked: Is there a time when you are struggling and everything is not going your way? Do you feel "faint" (v. 2), "bone trembling" (v. 2), "deep anguish" (v. 3), "worn out" (v. 6), "groaning" (v. 6), "weeping" (v. 6), and "eyes grow weak with sorrow" (v. 7)? The pastor then explained that sometimes, this kind of hardship is caused by our sins; other times, it is because of the death of relatives or friends, sudden shocks, relationship disturbances, family breakdowns, illnesses, job problems, unemployment or hostility. King David was often in trouble, but he always cried out for God’s mercy: “have mercy on me, LORD” (v. 2). Because David knew that Yahweh was a God of mercy. He prayed, "... save me because of your unfailing love" (v. 4). Sometimes the troubles seem endless. If you are in the midst of a battle, be like David and cry out to God, "How long, LORD, how long?" (v. 3). You may feel that even though you cry loudly, God is not listening. But the truth is: God is listening. There comes a time when we can say like David, "... for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping. The Lord has heard my cry for mercy, ..." (vv. 8-9). Happy Friday everyone, have a great weekend!
To this end, “今日灵粮 Spiritual Food TODAY” would like to quote Lamentations 3: 22-23, and encourage to pray with each other in the love of our Lord, thanking "God for his unfailing love and mercy". The verses of this Lamentation testify that: "It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed; because his mercies never fail. It is a new thing every morning; great is the truth of God!" While Rev. Gumbel has prayed in his sharing to encourage us of believing in God's double blessing, because God is merciful, Pastor Gumbel illustrates it by mentioning the speech in the Shakespeare's Comedy of "The Merchant of Venice", which summarizes the charm of mercy (compassion). God's mercy is not out of reluctance, it falls from the sky like rain on the earth; it not only gives happiness to those who give and sacrifice will also give happiness to those who offer and donate. When you receive mercy, you are blessed; when you show mercy, you are also blessed. Therefore, Lord we know that "by your grace are we saved", thank you for your unfailing love and mercy. Thank you for hearing our cry and granting us mercifully with our prayer in the name of the Lord. Amen!
