Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
The scripture shared in《今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY》 is Mark 11:24. Many pastors have explained this passage in sermons on the theme of "The Importance of Prayer," the core of which is the belief that God hears and responds to prayers that conform to His will. Jesus explicitly taught this principle in Mark 11:24, commanding his disciples, "Believe that you have received it." This faith is not a guarantee of receiving any particular personal wish, but an assurance that God's will is always good and that He will respond to prayers that conform to His word.
Recently, I read a blog post from this pastor that my niece forwarded to me, which explained that "prayer is a privilege God gives to His children," and quoted Acts 3:1-10. This passage, especially Acts 3:6, reminds us that the apostles Peter and John vividly illustrated this theme in Acts 3:1-10 when they encountered a lame beggar at the temple gate. Instead of offering gold or silver, they relied on the name of Jesus, declaring, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, go!” The man was immediately healed, “leaping and walking again,” powerfully demonstrating their faith and the message of the gospel, showing that when prayer in faith reflects God's power and will, it can bring miraculous healing.
This pastor also reminds us that Jesus left us an example of prayer on earth. As Jesus' apostles, Peter and John knew the importance of prayer, so they went to the temple to pray. The Bible recounts the story of this beggar born lame who was carried to the temple gate every day, stretching out his hand to those who entered to beg. He was not the only beggar; it was the Holy Spirit who specifically guided Peter and John to find this man, because it was Jesus himself who healed the lame. Therefore, the first thing this healed beggar did was to enter the temple with the apostles to praise God.
This further clarifies that the true power of prayer lies in acknowledging God's sovereignty, not human ability. Peter immediately corrected the crowd's astonishment, pointing out that the miracle was not due to their own "ability or piety," but to their faith in the name of Jesus, the very faith that had brought the man "complete recovery." This emphasizes that effective prayer is rooted in reliance on God, with believers becoming vessels of God's will, entrusting the outcome to God's timing and glory.
Therefore, as believers and vessels of God, especially as preachers of the gospel, we must first show the world that we are living Christians; those who bear witness to Christ must live out the likeness of Christ in their own lives. We must sincerely allow others to see Christ's guidance and image in us, so that they too may come to know Christ through us. Therefore, we must guide people to focus on prayer, to look to the Lord, and to fix their eyes on Him. The Holy Spirit will work among us, and His glorious works will be manifested in us.
Today's theme is "The Importance of Prayer," which John 14:13 further emphasizes. This passage closely links the power of prayer, faith, and the name of Jesus. Jesus promised, “Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” This passage shows that praying in His name is a condition for being answered, ensuring that our requests are in accordance with His will and glory. These passages collectively emphasize that faith is a spiritual power that inspires our ability to pray in the name of Jesus.
