Apostle Paul often encourages us to rely on God with confidence in times of crisis by saying: “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

Holy Word Today " this morning, I read an article written by Rev. Bob & Mrs. Debby Gass, "Beware of Self-pity". Rev. Gass quoted 1 Corinthians 10: 23-24, describing that apostle Paul encourages us to trust God even in this crisis-ridden world, and to be a Christian who can uphold justice and do good to help others. Therefore, the scriptures say, " ‘I have the right to do anything’ you say — but not everything is beneficial. ‘I have the right to do anything’ — but not everything is constructive. No one should seek their own good, but the good of others." That is what the topic and theme of "今日灵粮 Spiritual Food TODAY " is about to share, and remind us of: “One Must Stand Firm While the World Is Currently in Crisis” Although life is so hard and uncomfortable, do not be “self-pity” and be careful not to fall. Rev. Bob Gass uses the life and encounters of the Old Testament story of prophet Elijah to explain why we should stand firm: Do not be "self-pity", because it may be a fatal psychological temptation. For examples: It might tell hard-working wives and mothers, "No one appreciates you," or to office workers, "Look how valuable you are, but you're never recognized or rewarded." Continued, perhaps it also says to the unemployed: "There is no chance!"; to the divorced: "There is no place for you!"; to the bereaved: "There is no hope!"; Or say to someone who is struggling, "There is no way out!" Now let you turn to the Old Testament and read the familiar biblical story of the prophet Elijah's call to ministry, his subsequent discouragement, and miracles. 24 hours after his greatest fire-and-rainfall victory ever, he became deeply depressed and wallowed in "self-pity." In 1 Kings 19: 4, 10, he complained to God, "O Lord, I have had enough, please take my life... I have been zealous in serving the God of hosts Yahweh. But the Israelites broke your covenant, demolished your altars, and killed your prophets. Now I am the only one left, and they will kill me.” This scene is the true face of “self-pity”! There are two reasons behind "self-pity": (1) On the one hand, it is emotional manipulation. We use "self-pity" as a weapon to make others feel guilty for our own ends. That is immaturity, and you must deal with it, whether it's in yourself or in others; (2) On the other hand, "self-pity" can also stem from sheer exhaustion. According to the record in the previous Old Testament verses, God showed prophet Elijah four behaviors that he needed to correct so that he could get back on track: 1. Rest more; 2. Eat better; 3. Turn your eyes to God; and 4. He is isolated, so he needs friends. And that is to encourage us to rely on God, so that we may always be able to stand firm! Happy Friday and great weekend everyone!

Spiritual Food TODAY” would like to quote Proverbs 28: 2, and encouraged with this passage to pray with each other in the love of our Lord. We should trust God, and " One Must Stand Firm While the World Is Currently in Crisis." The wise King Solomon comforted us in his scriptures, saying that during the time of temptation and suffering, God will open a way out for us, as it goes well to say it, " When a country is rebellious, it has many rulers, but a ruler with discernment and knowledge maintains order.” Rev. Bob Gass encouraged us in his sharing with his last note that, God did eventually send prophet Elisha to prophet Elijah as his replacement and resolved his current worry with problems. And thus, the next time we see Elijah, he is back on top. Take a moment today and think about how you can apply this principle to your own life. May God help us keep our faith and stand firm. The world is in chaos and unrest, and those in power are hardened and ignorant. Be careful not to fall. Pray in the name of the Lord, Amen!
