“;Psalm 91 was composed on the day Moses finished building the Tabernacle in the desert. These verses describe Moses' own experience of entering the Tabernacle: "1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty". Because Moses knew that God was never forsaken by those who sought him, he affirmed in verses 14-16: “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

In the Tuesday Brothers and Sisters' Bible Study Group of 「Edmonton Chinese Alliance Church 爱城华人宣道会」this morning, I read a written and shared testimony from Sister Sylvia Wong, along with her daughter who wrote the article, "Sad and Praiseful Memories" about her dad. They are the wife and daughter of the late former group leader of the Edmonton Chinese Alliance Church's Tuesday Brothers Bible Study Group, Mr. Henry Wong. The mother and daughter quoted Psalm 9:10 to describe how they missed their late husband and father, Brother Henry Wong, during her grief in a sorrowful life of the past one-year anniversary. However, the psalmist King David who wrote this psalm, encourages us in the verse, saying to trust and praise God with all your heart, because, "Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. " This is what the theme of "Spiritual Food TODAY" wants to share, "You have never been abandoned". Sister Sylvia Wong translated her daughter's lament to her father, and wrote: A year ago, Dad went to heaven. I still miss him so much, and it still seems so surreal. Today I will choose to think about this amazing man who loved Jesus and passionately shared his faith. Even when many failed, he was still a man of integrity. He is so good-humored and always the one to defuse the tension. He is thoughtful and thoughtful in his own way. He was a man of few words, but I remember him always praying. Ha-ha, like when he was driving with his eyes closed and praying while us kids freaked out while sitting in the back. Mom loves Dad very much. Dad also dotes on Mom, his children, and his grandchildren. But most of all, Dad loves his Lord. Yes, I am happy and believe in a future in Christ where I will see him again, but I still wish he was here now. Still, I am glad I have him as a dad. I hope I can carry on with his unwavering faith and pass it on to my children until we meet again. Or until the return of our Savior. Happy Friday and great weekend everyone!

Spiritual Food TODAY” would like to quote Psalm 73:26 and encourages and prays for each other in the love of the Lord. Losing a loved one is not easy. The death of a friend or family member (including a pet) can cause you a lot of pain and it will take time to heal. But if faith and God are an important part of your life, the Bible and hymns can provide comfort in times of grief. Just like Sister Sylvia Wong and her daughter gave us the last encouragement in their sharing, they mentioned this hymn, 【Because He Lives】, reminding them of Brother Henry Wong, laughing and joyful, because "you were never forsaken" and Henry's alive, just like our Savior Jesus, "Because He Lives"! Sing this hymn song especially the part "Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living, just because He lives." The psalmist Asaph also advises us in this verse of Psalm 73: 26, "You were never forsaken," saying, "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Father God, we thank you so much for such remind me that I was never abandoned, or forgotten. God sees you in this dark place world, and God guarantees that you are living currently and has His purpose for you. Lord, bring the life and light of God to where all hope seems lost. Tell us how to live a real life today, let the sorrow of life coexist with the glory of praising God. Pray in the name of the Lord, Amen.
