The pastor explained that we should be honest and avoid our sinful human nature, which is likely to seek to satisfy our selfish desires and needs through prayer. If we can believe in Jesus and make it a point to follow His word, as He promised His disciples in John 14: 13: “And I (Jesus) will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” This provides us with the ultimate purpose of prayer which is to glorify God. Pastor Mitra further mentioned that the apostle Paul also used the word of God to instruct us in 1 Corinthians 10: 31 that we must glorify God in everything we do, especially prayer, of course. He reminds us that in life and in all activities large and small, we must pursue the glory of God. And one way we can do this is through our prayers. Just as God was glorified when Jesus spent time with Him in prayer, God is glorified when we willingly spend time with Him, especially in prayer and communicating with Him. Therefore, we tend to also quote the same verse in 1 Corinthians 10: 31 to share today’s spiritual food, which also means, “Prayer Must Glorify God’s Name to Be Effective,” the verse says: “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 」（哥林多前书 1 Corinthians 10: 31 节）

「灵粮分享 TODAY’s Sharing」： 今晨在「纯全喜乐 Pure Joys」里，读到约翰·派博 Rev. John Piper 写了一篇， “祷告的第一要义” 的分享。牧者约翰引用马太福音 Mathew 6: 9 节，描述耶稣吩咐我们向神祷告的第一要素，就是要尊祂的名为圣。这也就是「今日灵粮 Spiritual Food TODAY」 主题要分享的, “祷告必须荣耀神的圣名才能有效” 。

In "纯全喜乐 Pure Joys" this morning, I read the sharing of "The First Importance of Prayer" written by Rev. John Piper. Pastor John quoted Matthew 6: 9 to describe the first element of Jesus’ command for us to pray to God, which is to hallow His name. This is what the theme of "今日灵粮 Spiritual Food TODAY " is about to share, "Prayer Must Glorify God’s Name to Be Effective."

Pastor John explained: In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus taught us that the first essence of prayer is to ask the Father’s name to be sanctified. Please note that this is a request, not a declaration, which the pastor has thought of as a declaration for many years. It is a request to God to ensure that His name is sanctified. This is also like in Matthew 9: 38, Jesus tells us to ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest. What always amazes me about this verse is that Jesus instructs us workers to ask the Lord of the harvest, who knows the harvest better than we do, to add more hands to His harvest. However, doesn’t this verse have the same meaning as the Lord’s Prayer? Jesus asks us to ask for the glory of His name based solely on the jealous God who ensures that His name is hallowed. Perhaps this will surprise us, but it is what it is. Moreover, this fact teaches us two things: (1) Prayer cannot make God do what He does not want to do. God's will be that His name be sanctified. In God’s order, there is nothing more important than this; (2) Prayer is a method used by God to help our order be consistent with God’s order. When our prayers are the result of God's great will, God intends for our prayers to accomplish great things. Your prayers will be effective when you unite with this jealous God to hallow His name. In conclusion, “今日灵粮 Spiritual Food TODAY” would like to quote 1 John 5: 14 and encourages everyone to pray for each other in the love of the Lord. In today’s sharing, Pastor John reminds us to wake up and remember that God’s will is to sanctify His own name. Therefore, in the verses from 1 John cited in the conclusion of today’s spiritual food, Jesus’ apostle John also exhorts us that “Prayer Must Glorify God’s Name to Be Effective,” saying: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will (In another words, we ask for the glory of His holy name), he hears us.” With thanksgiving, we pray in the name of the Lord, Amen!
