(使得我们能够等候将来在末世里,神给我们拥有永生的赏赐)”; We are saved, purified and justified through faith in Jesus, and thus can be reconciled to God and become children of God. Jesus sends the Holy Spirit, the Comforter to dwell in the temple of our hearts, guiding us on the path of righteousness every day, comforting us, especially in carrying out the Great Commission, when we are called to serve and preach the gospel in mission and action. We may encounter many difficulties in life, and even life setbacks and dangers. The apostle Paul has been cultivating our faith in many of his letters and encouraging believers to be strong, saying: “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. (So that we can look forward for God to give us the reward of eternal life in the last days).”
This morning in "纯全喜乐 Pure Joys ", I read the sharing of "Get what you cannot lose" written by Rev. John Piper, which is the eternal reward God will give you in the future. You should cherish it and wait to receive it to glorify God. Pastor John quoted Mark 10: 27, Jesus in the verse comforts us and says: With men it is impossible, but not with God, for God all things are possible. Encourage us who are called to fulfill the Great Commission not to be afraid of the difficulties of preaching and spreading the gospel. Sometimes we even suffer and face the danger of our lives. Therefore, we must work hard in service and do not be afraid of preaching and spreading the gospel. God will help you accomplish what God has called you to do in service. To complete the evangelism ministry, you must welcome people with kindness and lead them to believe in Jesus and convert to the Lord. This is what the theme of "今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY " is about to share, " God’s Calling to Serve and Preach the Gospel Even Suffering is to Bring Glory to God."
There is this pastor reminded us that in the beginning, in Genesis, we see that God wants us to help and serve others through our daily work. He said you can let the world define the purpose of your work, or you can choose to follow God's purpose for your work, the Great Commission to which you are called. Another pastor also let us know. according to statistics, when the average person reaches the retirement age of about 65 years old, he will spend an average of about 70,000 hours at work? It is true that many of us regard work as an inevitable sin and burden. Some of us actually have too much pressure, and even a sense of death and danger, which occupies a large part of our lives. It is easy to suffer from burnout at work and let it affect our attitude or work ethic in ministry. Fortunately, we can look to the many Bible passages about work for guidance, and the Holy Spirit is there to comfort you in the temple of your heart. Do not lose your faith in following the Lord to the end. God will take care of you and you will eventually have peace and grace from the Lord in the future. Then you will have the hope of eternal life.
Then Pastor John used the example of the Savior Jesus and quoted many teachings in the Bible to explain and comfort you: If you are willing to devote yourself to the front line of missionary work or church ministry and make all nations disciples of God, you can get two great encouragements from Jesus: (1) As Jesus told us in the verse of Mark 10: 27, with man what is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Although a sinner’s heart is hardened, it is God’s work to turn the sinner’s life around, and God uses His sovereignty to make everything happen according to God’s plan. We do not need to be afraid or troubled by our weakness in missionary and ministry works. This battle is the battle of the Lord our God, and He will help you get the job done and win. (2) The Lord Jesus Christ also promised us in Mark 10: 29-30 that if you suffer in serving and preaching the gospel, you will have eternal life in the next life. He will personally lead us in the work, and He will do so much more for us. So much so that when our missionary and ministry life is over and we leave this world, it is impossible for us to say what we have sacrificed, but much from his help. If we listen to the words of the Lord Jesus and preach the gospel, we will find that even if the life experience is painful, it will be of great benefit to our spiritual life. Our spiritual state and our joy will be a hundred times better because of it. When your physical life ends, you will not die forever, but will have eternal life.
Pastor John calls on us, for the sake of the Lord, not to waste our courage in not preaching the gospel, or even to waste our lives in vain. He calls on you to put down everything you have and choose to take time out to preach the gospel. This will also satisfy your deepest desire as a Christian. He also calls on you to regard all worldly things as rubbish, because no work can surpass the value of serving the King of kings. He also calls on you to take off the clothes you bought in the store and put on the evangelistic clothes of God’s messengers. Pastors and gospel workers are sure that when you preach the gospel, you may encounter persecution and deprivation from people, but do not forget to be happy! Matthew 5: 10 records one of the eight beatitudes mentioned by Jesus in his Sermon on the Mount, which is the blessing that Jesus promised you in your service and evangelism: “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake; Because the kingdom of heaven is theirs."
Pastor John went on to give an example. Do you remember the story of five Oca Indians in Ecuador, who killed Jim Elliot and four of his missionary companions on January 8, 1956? At the time Jim and his companions were trying to bring the gospel to 60 Oka people, four young wives had lost their husbands and nine children had lost their fathers. However, Jim's wife Elisabeth Elliot recorded, "The world calls this event a tragic nightmare; however, the world does not understand the other side of Jim Elliot's creed, which is to “Those who give up what they cannot keep and gain what they can never lose are not fools”. Happy Friday and great weekend everyone!
When all was said and done, "今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY" would like to quote Psalm 90: 16-17. It encourages every one of us to pray for each other in the love of the Lord, and equip our faith to be strong with an understanding that, " God’s Calling to Serve and Preach the Gospel Even Suffering is to Bring Glory to God.” Under the guidance of his Holy Spirit, I read in the "以斯拉释经讲道网 Yisila Expository Preaching Network" with a pastor explained that Psalm 90 is about Moses experiencing God's salvation of the Israelites in the wilderness. After seeing the people repeatedly disobeying God and provoking God's wrath, and seeing the various hardships people encounter because of their sins, he uttered this profound prayer in Psalm 90. In the verse Psalm 90: 16-17 of his prayer, we cite this passage at the end of our sharing of spiritual food today, as he confidently encouraged us, future generations, as God’s children, to keep faith and wait for God’s promise. God had eventually completed his final salvation plan for humans with his unfailing love towards us as his children as we believe in his son, Jesus as our savior with the reward of eternal life waiting for us to receive. Therefore, when we serve and spread the gospel, we stand the same conclusion as Moses has prayed to God in the same way that, " May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to their children. May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us — yes, establish the work of our hands.” Pray that the guidance and outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, helps us to store God’s future promises deep in our hearts, fight the good fight of the gospel as taught by the apostle Paul, work tirelessly to serve and preach the gospel, and wait for the reward of eternal life hopefully given by God in the future when we see him. Pray in the name of the Lord, Amen!
