If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

Rev. Jeremy Myers, pastor of First Baptist Church in Seymour, Indiana, USA, shared a sermon on “Unforgivable Sin” on the Redeeming God website. Pastor Myers mentioned that most Christians at some point in their lives wonder if they have committed the unforgivable sin. Pastor Myers has personally spoken with Christians who have divorced, had abortions, or committed adultery and believed that they had committed the unforgivable sin. Others consider suicide an unforgivable sin. If a person commits suicide, then he will go to hell. The pastor then also spoke with people who believed the unforgivable sin was to reject God. They believe that if you are a Christian but you live as if you are not a Christian, or you curse Jesus, or deny that you ever knew Him, then that is the unforgivable sin. Pastor Myers also pointed out that we also have examples in the Bible of murderers and adulterers, but they were said to be saved like the sons of Jacob. Others, like Solomon, Amaziah, and Uzziah, may well be in heaven but were not very faithful to God throughout their lives. Some of them committed adultery, took multiple wives, committed murder, and worshiped idols. Then, the righteous man in Ezekiel 18 dies for doing unrighteousness, and the righteous man in 1 Corinthians 5 has an incestuous relationship with his mother-in-law. Lot committed incest with his daughters. Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5, and many other examples of deviant true believers in the Bible.

Our God is the sovereign, righteous, and holy God. The purpose of all of this is to show that God’s grace is deeper and wider than most of us know. He loves all of us who can repent of our sins when we repent and turn to Him in His unwavering love. So, the Apostle John preaches this in the Spiritual FOOD TODAY scriptures that we quote today, specifically in 1 John 1: 9. “…if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins …”

This morning in "We Devote," I read an article written by Pastor Rev. Nicky Gumbel, sharing about "Total Forgiveness." The pastor, Pastor Gumbel, quoted Psalm 32: 1-11 and told us through David’s exhortation psalm: “Blessed is the man whose transgressions are forgiven and his sins are covered! David stated to God His sins are not concealed. David said: I will confess my sins to the Lord, and God will forgive my sins. This is what the theme of "今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY" is about to share, "The Faithful God Will Wash Away All Our Sins Through Jesus Our Savior."

Pastor Gumbel then explained with an example: Bishop Sandy Millar once said that one time he was walking along the beach and he noticed that the beach became uneven due to the trampling of people. But early the next morning, the originally bumpy beach was completely washed away by the sea water. Facing the brand-new beach, Sandy felt Jesus telling him: "This is forgiveness." Being forgiven by Jesus Christ was like all the bad records in life being completely washed away by the waves.

The pastor continued to encourage and comfort us, saying that experiencing forgiveness will bring relief and rest from all the difficulties in our lives. Are you unable to forgive others or even your own faults? The key to forgiving others and yourself is understanding the extent of God’s forgiveness for you. Only those who have been forgiven can forgive others. C.S. Lewis said: "As a Christian, you must forgive those who are unforgivable, because God has forgiven you who are unforgivable." Regarding forgiving yourself, he wrote: "If God has forgiven us, then we must forgive ourselves. Otherwise, it is as if we have set up a higher court than God. " Through Jesus, God offers us complete forgiveness. The psalm quoted by the pastor speaks of the dramatic change that comes with being forgiven by God:

(1) Deliver us from the hands of judgment: David describes the excruciating pain the “soul” goes through because of the lack of forgiveness: In Psalm 32: 3-4, he says, “When I kept silent, my bones are withered by my groaning all day long. Your hand is heavy on me night and day; my essence is drained like the drought of summer." (2) Being completely open before God: the way to be forgiven is to come to the Lord, without concealment or pretense: In verse 5 of the same passage, he pleads, “I declare my sin to you, and I will not conceal my evil. I say, ‘I will confess my transgression to the Lord. 'You will forgive my sins'; (3) Have a new beginning: knowing that your sins are forgiven is a huge blessing in itself. That’s why David boldly declared in the same verse 1-2: “Blessed is the man whose transgression is forgiven and his sin covered. Blessed is the man who has no deceit in his heart, but the Lord does not count him guilty. of".

Using this psalm as an argument, Paul shows in Romans 4: 6-8 that through Jesus' death for sinners, God imparts righteousness to men through faith. Therefore, forgiveness of sins cannot be earned by good deeds. Through the cross, God restores us into a right relationship with Himself. Therefore, like David in Psalm 32: 6, first paragraph, we can pray to Him; the same Psalm, verse 7, first paragraph, says that God becomes our “hiding place”; verse 7, second paragraph describes God keeps us from suffering; verse 8 says he guides us, and verse 10 mentions God surrounding us with “love on every side.” You can't do it through good works, and verse 10 tells us that you can only receive all this grace by trusting God. If you read the Old Testament correctly, you know that repentance and trust are the only paths to forgiveness. However, forgiveness is not a reason to continue sinning, but an incentive not to sin again. Now that we have received God’s forgiveness, we should desire to walk in God’s ways. God promises to guide us, so in verse 8, God comforts us through David and says: "I will teach you and show you the way you should go; I will keep my eyes on you and admonish you."

As described in today’s Psalm 32: 9, God does not want you to be like a horse that must be driven by a bit and a bridle. He wants you to avoid experiencing the pain that comes from disobedience to the Holy Spirit. If you follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, you can avoid unnecessary pain. God wants you to listen to His voice, obey His teachings, walk in His ways, and have faith in His love for you every day. Happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend!

When everything is said and done, in today’s sharing summary, “今日灵粮Spiritual FOOD TODAY” would like to quote Ephesians 4: 32, so that everyone can be encouraged and pray for each other in the love of the Lord. In this verse, the apostle Paul reminds us that we must not only be courteous to each other when serving in the church of God’s house, but also live in harmony and be kind and courteous in our relationships with society and people outside the church of God’s house, so that man can be seen and loved by God. If we are weak and fall, and have sinned against God and others, we must be humble, pray for God’s mercy and forgiveness, and apologize to others to receive love. Because, “the faithful God will cleanse us from all sin through our Savior Jesus.” So, Paul encourages us in the verses: “Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Pray in the name of the Lord, Amen!
