你们若是热心行善,有谁害你们呢?; For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?
The Apostle Peter quoted 1 Peter 3 in today's spiritual food, which encourages us that husbands and wives in the families should love each other, and when they go out and behave themselves, they should turn away from evil and do good, and seek peace. Because the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and the ears of the Lord are attentive to their prayers. The face of the Lord is against those who do evil. If we are loving husbands and wives, have a harmonious family, serve others enthusiastically and do good to neighbours. When we can love others as ourselves, who then would want to harm us?
Madam Sarah J. Hauser, a gospel writer, once wrote a sharing about "Learning to Trust the God Who Keep us " and published this sermon on the "Faith and Theology" website. She quoted Psalm 121 and believed that Jehovah God is our protector. Psalm 121 is a beautiful psalm that reminds us that there is an important thing in life that we always forget somehow - reminding us that we don't have to live in fear because we have a God who protects us. This psalm is part of the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120 - 134), which is believed to be a group of songs written by the Jewish pilgrim King David and sung on his pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem. This passage explains to us how gracious God is and how His miraculous works help people get out of trouble and comforted.
This morning in "纯全喜乐 Pure Joys", I read a sharing by Rev. John Piper, "God Works for You". The pastor also quoted the same Psalm 121, especially the verses Psalm 121: 1-3, describing the psalmist King David asking, where can we seek help in our troubles? The psalmist instructs us that as believers in the Lord, we must keep looking up to the Lord and have faith in the Lord, and the Spirit of God will guide and care for us. Relying on His grace, we can get God's help at all times. This is what the theme of "今日灵粮 Spiritual Food TODAY" is about to share. As long as we keep our faith and understand that we must treat others with righteousness and stay in holiness to remember that, "The Lord Watches Over and Helps the Righteous, but Chastises the Wicked."
Pastor Piper's sharing and explanation in today's spiritual food asks, you need to know where to seek the help you need. When the psalmist David looked up at the mountains and asked himself, "Where does my help come from?" He then answered himself, "My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth" - not from the mountains, but from the Lord God who made the mountains. David reminded himself of two great truths: (1) God is the almighty creator who transcends all problems in life; (2) God will not slumber. He is an untiring worker. Please imagine that God is a worker in your life. Yes, it is wonderful to think so. We often think of ourselves as God's workers. But the first thing that makes us feel amazing in the Bible is that God is a worker in our lives. Isaiah 64:4 records: "From ancient times, no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen, any God besides you, who works for those who wait for Him."
God works for us 24 hours a day. He does not take leave, nor does he sleep. In fact, he is so eager to help us and to do more for all those who trust in Him. 2 Chronicles 16:9 records: "The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show his strength on behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward him." By working for those who trust in Him, God demonstrates his infinite power, wisdom, and goodness, and God is pleased to do so. The Heavenly Father shows His will through Jesus Christ, Mark 10:45 records: "For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve." Jesus works for those who follow him, and He serves them.
This is what we must believe, and truly believe. The Apostle Paul said in Philippians 4:4 that we can "always rejoice", and reminded us in Ephesians 5:20, "always give thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ", because Paul also confirmed to us in Philippians 4:6-7 that we "should not be anxious about anything" and always have the "peace that surpasses all understanding". The Apostle John also reminded believers to be cautious in John 12:25, saying, "He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Matthew 22:39 Jesus also commanded us as Christians to "love our neighbors as ourselves". This is the truth! This is the fact! God works day and night for those who wait for Him. Have a happy Friday and a happy weekend!
When all this is said and done, in the summary of this sharing, "今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY" would like to quotes Hebrews 13: 5-6, so that everyone can be encouraged to pray for each other in the love of the Lord. In this verse, Paul reminds believers not to live in fear of lacking of money, but be satisfied with what you have, and not to forget that God is our ever-present help. Therefore, He says, " “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So, we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” " We live in the life of Christ., be happy always and keep up with our faith. God is our ultimate provider, and our refuge in times of trouble, as “The Lord watches over and helps the righteous, but chastises the wicked.” God does not forget our daily needs and blessings. Pray in the name of the Lord, Amen!
