Olympic has no place for politics, Rule 50 of the Olympic Charter states “no kind of demonstration, political, religious or racial propaganda is permitted in any Olympic sites, venues or other areas.”

(1) Paul’s Letter to the Romans: Chapter 13 – Authority (Respect it !) and Taxes (Pay it !):

Christians are not called to live only within their Christian community. They also have lived in the real world, with pagans and secular (and sometimes hostile) authorities. So how should Christians live in relation to “the world” ? This is the very issue that Paul addresses in Romans 13. What is specifically in question is obeying those in authority. (Quoted from Resurrecting Orthodoxy)

(2) How does the Christian life compare to the Olympics?

In 1 Corinthians 9:25, Paul compares the Christian life to the Isthmian Games which were second only to the Olympic Games during Paul's time. He states that, "Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable." The wreath Paul refers to was a victor's crown similar to the medals now earned at the Olympic Games. In this verse, Paul highlights two things; first, the goal-oriented thinking of an athlete, and second, how that goal motivates the athlete to work hard for it. (Quoted from Compelling Truth)

(3) 2 Timothy 2:5, “An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.”

Profession athletes and Olympians know that they must compete according to the rules for it to be fair. If there were no rules or rules were made to be broken, then the competition would be less than fair. It would be every man and woman for themselves; survival of the fittest. No, the only way an athlete is crowned is if they play by the rules, just like Christians who must live in obedience to godly principles in the Bible. (Quoted from Christian Crier)

Compelling Truth)

Christian Crier)
