「灵粮经节 TODAY’s Verses」：「但人居尊贵中不能长久，如同死亡的畜类一样。他们行的这道本为自己的愚昧；但他们以後的人还佩服他们的话语（细拉）。他们如同羊群派定下阴间；死亡必作他们的牧者。到了早晨，正直人必管辖他们；他们的美容必被阴间所灭，以致无处可存。只是神必救赎我的灵魂脱离阴间的权柄，因他必收纳我（细拉）。见人发财、家室增荣的时候，你不要惧怕；因为，他死的时候甚麽也不能带去；他的荣耀不能随他下去; People, despite their wealth, do not endure; they are like the beasts that perish. This is the fate of those who trust in themselves, and of their followers, who approve their sayings. They are like sheep and are destined to die; death will be their shepherd (but the upright will prevail over them in the morning). Their forms will decay in the grave, far from their princely mansions. But God will redeem me from the realm of the dead; he will surely take me to himself. Do not be overawed when others grow rich, when the splendor of their houses increases; for they will take nothing with them when they die, their splendor will not descend with them. 」（诗篇 Psalm 49: 12-17）

A pastor gave a sermon quoting Psalm 49 and explained: The final fate of those who trust in wealth instead of God is death. This psalm uses the word "Selah" several times, vaguely referring to the state of the grave or death. Those who fear God should not envy those who are wealthy but ungodly, because the poor and those who are rich will one day face God's judgment. When we quote and use this same Psalm 49 in our spiritual food today, especially Psalm 49:12, the psalmist explains that the ungodly can only have a false sense of security. Wealth cannot buy forgiveness of sins. Eventually, they will die. Although he can leave wealth to others, he cannot have eternal rest and worry. However, the God-fearing person has nothing to fear in eternity because he has faith in salvation, which does not follow his death, but rather God's grace gives him the hope of eternal rest. This morning in the "今日圣言 Holy Word Today ", I read an article written by Rev. Bob & Mrs. Debby Gass, "The Most Important Principles About Money". The pastor quoted Proverbs 13:7 to remind us as believers as to how to maintain our faith and live a holy and joyful life with the love of the Lord. Although many people would think that money can make everything possible, as described in Ecclesiastes 10:19, and that we may use money to buy many things and do many things. however, Pastor Bob quoted the verse from Proverbs, in which the wise author of King Solomon reminded us: “There are some who pretend to be rich, and yet they have nothing; and there are some who pretend to be poor, and yet they have a great many.” Although having money can buy many things, and thus a blessing, that is why the theme of “今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY” would like to remind us and share that: “Do Not overlook the More Important Things Money Cannot Buy.” Those so called more important things are the rewards of eternal life and rest that we must see God and receive it after we died and left the world.

Again, Pastor Bob explained that money can buy anything that is for sale. However, the most important things in life, such as your health and relationships, cannot be bought because they are not for sale. There are many passages in the Bible that teach us many things about money. The pastor summarized them and that can be divided into three most important principles: (1) Your character is more important than what you have. Wise King Solomon tells us in Proverbs 28:6, “Better is a poor man who walks uprightly than a rich man who deals crookedly.” (2) What God sees in your heart is more important than what you have. Hence, Proverbs 15:16 comforts us by saying, “A little with the fear of the Lord is better than great riches and vexation.” (3) What others think of you is more important than what you have. As Proverbs 22:1 reminds us, “A good name is better than great riches, and favor than silver and gold.” Pastor Bob then counsels us not to worry about keeping up with our neighbors. Your neighbor may be just one step away from bankruptcy or divorce court. Besides, even if you do catch up with your neighbor, they will refinance their home. The truth is, until you learn to be happy that others have something you do not, you will never be happy with what you have. 1 Timothy 6:10 tells us that the love of money is a sin, and the love of money means not enjoying the salvation of Jesus that God has given us, as well as the grace of eternal rest that God will be given us. When all this is said and done, in the summary of this sharing, "今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY" would like to quote Proverbs 21:20-21, allowing everyone to pray for each other, and encourage each other in the love of the Lord. In this scripture, God hopes that we, as children of God, can become wise people who pursue a life of justice and kindness. Although money can provide material comfort and convenience, there are still some basic aspects of life that money cannot reach. Therefore, “Do Not overlook the More Important Things Money Cannot Buy.” This is illustrated in the two verses of this scripture: "The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down. Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.” This means that wise people save. The only way to achieve financial freedom is to spend less and do it over the long term. Pray for God’s mercy and help each one of us can be a wise person who pursues justice and mercy in life. May God's grace, joy, and blessing be granted to us. Pray In the name of the Lord, Amen!
