【036】今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY：基督徒生活中要体现诚实 Honesty in Christian Living

《SCRIPTURE 经文》：使徒保罗劝告信徒在得救并成为新造的人之后该如何生活，他说：” 如果你们听过他的道，领了他的教，学了他的真理，就要脱去你们从前行为上的旧人，这旧人是因私欲的迷惑渐渐变坏的；又要将你们的心志改换一新，并且穿上新人；这新人是照着神的形像造的，有真理的仁义和圣洁。所以你们要弃绝谎言，各人与邻舍说实话，因为我们是互相为肢体。“ The Apostle Paul counseled believers on how to live after they are saved and become new creations when he said: “when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore, each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.” (以弗所书 Ephesians 4:21-25)

求神怜悯，愿圣灵在我们心中作工，光照我们，引导我们的生活，使我们行在神喜悦的义路上。我们当以诚实洁净的心灵行事为人，才能得见神。平安圣灵所结的果子就是义。换句话说，神终必为你存留永生的盼望和赏赐，使你不再忧虑能否回到天家见祂。

A Bible scholar once explained, "In the Christian life, honest behavior reflects a life that is consistent with God's character and teachings. It includes telling the truth, living truthfully, and acting with integrity in all aspects of life. Honesty helps build trust, demonstrates character, and promotes genuine relationships."

The verses shared by 《今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY》 is Ephesians 4:21-25. Especially in the last three verses, the Apostle Paul advises us believers on how to live after we are saved and become new creations. He said, "to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. The pastor asked, "Sometimes, lying seems to be the only solution. Are you in this situation too?" Unless you want to cause trouble between you and God, do not lie! Because Proverbs 12:22 reminds us, “The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.” Because when you lie, you hurt God, others, and yourself.

In addition, Pastor Bob cites Proverbs 11:3, which warns us, “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.” Why? Because lying always has consequences, for example: (1) God can hear what you say. When you decide to pray, the last thing you want to discuss with God is the very thing He wants to discuss with you: your dishonesty! (2) Lying robs you of your confidence before God. 1 John 3:21-22 says, “Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.” (3) You also run the risk of being exposed by God. Remember, Proverbs 12:19 tells you: "Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment." Therefore, once people know that you lie, they will no longer respect you, and their trust in you will plummet. The reputation you have accumulated over the years may be gone forever.

May God have mercy on us, and may the Holy Spirit work in our hearts, illuminate us, guide our lives, and enable us to walk in the righteous path that pleases God. We should act with an honest and clean heart in order to see God. The fruit of the Holy Spirit of peace is righteousness. In other words, God will eventually keep the hope and reward of eternal life for you, so that you will no longer worry about whether you can return to heaven to see Him.
