Trust God’s Word as the Channel and Disseminator of His Blessings

As thousands gathered and trampled upon one another, Jesus began to speak to His disciples first, implying trust in God’s Word as the channel and disseminator of His blessing. Then he said to them: “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain.’ And I’ll say to myself, ‘You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”

Many Bible scholars agree that passages that emphasize "God's Word as a channel and disseminator of blessings" tend to emphasize trusting God's promises and wisdom. Key passages include Proverbs 3:5-6, which encourages people to trust in the Lord with all their hearts and not lean on their own understanding, and Psalm 56:3-4, which teaches people to trust God's Word when facing fear. Other passages, such as Romans 10:17, also emphasize the power of faith, which comes from listening to the words of Christ.

The passage shared by 《今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY》 is Luke 12:15-21. Part of the allusion to the parable of the rich fool, especially in the last two verses, is that a person's life is not defined by their worldly wealth or achievements, but by their relationship with God through trusting God's Word as a channel and disseminator of His blessings. This verse emphasizes the folly of focusing on material wealth and ignoring spiritual wealth. The parable warns people not to become obsessed with accumulating worldly wealth and forget the true wealth of the Kingdom of Heaven, which is eternal and more precious. Rev. Bob & Mrs. Debby Gass published a similar spiritual food sharing in the column of 《今日圣言 Holy Word Today》, which is related to the daily life of Christians, that is, "Trusting God's Word".

The pastor went on to explain that you need to trust God's Word when you are controlled by materialism. The false philosophy behind materialism is: "More, more, and more!" This is the result of "eye disease". The Bible says that "the eyes of man are never satisfied." There is nothing wrong with wanting a nice home, a durable car, and financial security. And if you are a good steward of God's trust, then He will provide for your needs. However, if you want more than you need, or more than is necessary to fulfill God's will, the Bible calls it vanity. We can define this word as emptiness, futility, or purposelessness. Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 5:10, “The lover of money will not be satisfied with silver and gold; nor will the man of abundance be satisfied with much gain. This too is futile!” So, before you ask God for abundance, ask Him to reveal your purpose in life, because the two are intertwined. Jesus said in Luke 12:15, “… a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

God uses a different standard, and His Word says in 2 Corinthians 9:8,10-11 that God “is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in every way you may always have an abundance for every good work. … God, who gives seed to the farmer and food to the people, will give you double the seed, so that you may have an abundance of righteousness, so that you may have an abundance in every way, so that those who have received help from us may give thanks to God.” Does God want to bless you financially? Yes, but only if you are willing to be a channel and disseminator of His blessings.
