Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain.’ And I’ll say to myself, ‘You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. We can define this word as emptiness, futility, or purposelessness. Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 5:10, “The lover of money will not be satisfied with silver and gold; nor will the man of abundance be satisfied with much gain. This too is futile!” So, before you ask God for abundance, ask Him to reveal your purpose in life, because the two are intertwined. Jesus said in Luke 12:15, “… a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

God uses a different standard, and His Word says in 2 Corinthians 9:8,10-11 that God “is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in every way you may always have an abundance for every good work. … God, who gives seed to the farmer and food to the people, will give you double the seed, so that you may have an abundance of righteousness, so that you may have an abundance in every way, so that those who have received help from us may give thanks to God.” Does God want to bless you financially? Yes, but only if you are willing to be a channel and disseminator of His blessings.
