; The Apostle Paul exhorted Christians who have been saved and become new creations to be careful and stay away from those who would cause you to stumble and go against the truth. He said, “I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery, they deceive the minds of naive people.”

The verse shared by 今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY is Romans 16:17-18. The Apostle Paul exhorts us, the saved believers, especially those serving in the church, to be careful and stay away from those who cause you to stumble and fall into the snare of the truth. As we all know, many verses in the Bible warn us that those who reject the truth and support unrighteousness will be deceived by Satan, the "man of lawlessness", fall into the snare, and ultimately perish. This deception is not accidental, but a direct result of their refusal to love and accept the truth that can save them. Satan will use all kinds of evil tricks to deceive those who are perishing. The key to being deceived is not loving the truth and preferring unrighteousness.

In the column Our Daily Bread, gospel writer Mike Witmer published a sermon titled "Love the Truth", citing 2 Thessalonians 2:7-12, reminding believers that when serving others, especially in the church, they must understand that the key to being deceived by Satan is not loving the truth, but loving unrighteousness.

Mike Witmer then gave the example of a teenager named Jackie who hated school. He didn't like algebra, grammar, and chemistry, but he loved building houses. Jackie's dad would take him to work during the summer vacation, and he always enjoyed it. Although he was only 16 years old, he knew cement bricks and could build walls. What is the difference between school and a construction site? The difference is love and preference. Jackie didn't like school, but he loved construction, and this love inspired him to learn a lot about construction. As Christians, the Apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Thessalonians 2:10 to "love the truth." In verses 9-10 of the same chapter, he warns that the “man of lawlessness” will use Satan’s means to “perform all kinds of power and signs” to deceive “those who are perishing.”

As mentioned earlier, Paul also testifies in verse 11 that they do not understand the truth and are deceived. So, what kind of knowledge do we need? It depends on one key question: What do we love? Our passions influence our hearts and minds. We cherish, protect, and desire more of what we love. If we love truth and wisdom, we will eagerly seek them, just as we would seek precious gold as described in Proverbs 3:13-14 and 4:7-9. Truth and wisdom can protect us. King Solomon warns us in Proverbs 4:6: “Do not forsake wisdom, for it will keep you; love it, and it will protect you.” What is true wisdom? Trusting in Jesus the Savior is the true wisdom for salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." Therefore, we must ponder the most important question: "Whom shall we love?" If you love Jesus the Savior, you will learn His way to salvation. Jesus will guide you to the truth of salvation and protect your life from deception and destruction. Therefore, loving the truth is vital! We must stay away from those who would cause you to stumble and go against the truth.
