; “Let not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the fear of the Lord all the day.”

The scripture shared on "今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY " is Proverbs 23:17. Many Bible scholars believe this is a call from the biblical wise man, King Solomon, to teach and warn us to abandon envy and lust for the wicked, recognizing that their violent and troublesome paths ultimately lead to destruction. Rather than coveting the temporary gains of evil, we should focus on righteousness, guided by the Holy Spirit, and living a holy life with God's wisdom and eternal perspective, which will not deceive or fade away like worldly desires. Spiritual FOOD TODAY " shares this scripture to remind us that true success and fulfillment come from living an upright life and walking the path of holiness encouraged by God, not from the temporary temptations of evil.

In a column by Rev. Lettie Cowman of “Wells of Grace, biblical author Margaret Bottome published a sermon titled “Don’t Feel Frustrated or Unfair,” quoting Psalm 37:1, which exhorts us to “not be mad at others for doing evil, nor be envious of those who work evil.” Bottome explains that this is a command from God, similar to Exodus 20:15, “You Shall Not Steal.” So, what exactly does it mean to feel unfair? She gives the following examples: (1) “a surface becomes rough and uneven”; or (2) “friction or wear and tear.” A person who is resentful, unreasonable, or critical wears not only himself but others as well. To be “grouchy” means to be constantly troubled. This is harmful, and God does not want us to hurt ourselves. A doctor will tell you that anger is more harmful than a fever.

Therefore, a person who is constantly “grouchy” cannot stay healthy. We know that resentment easily leads to anger, and anger easily leads to rage. So, let us obey God's command: "Do not be discontented!" As King Solomon encourages us to live peaceful and holy lives in today’s Proverbs 23:17, "Do not envy sinners; let the fear of the Lord be with you all the day long." By fearing God, we are promised a secure future and an unfailing hope. This encourages us to shift our focus from the temporary interests of others to the eternal hope that comes from obeying God. 【054】 Whisper Web transfers this sharing from Dr. John King 张皇卿博士 on “今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY” at 分享自脸书网站:www.facebook.com/johnking9999 和 and 维克斯站:johnking9999.wixsite.com/website Edmonton, AB, Canada Friday 10.24..2025.
