【SCRIPTURE 经文】：弟兄们，论到时候、日期，不用写信给你们；因为你们自己明明晓得，主的日子来到，好像夜间的贼一样。人正说平安稳妥的时候，灾祸忽然临到他们，如同产难临到怀胎的妇人一样, 他们绝不能逃脱。Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. Pastor Gambel goes on to explain and illustrate that we make countless decisions every day — what to wear, what to eat, what to do. These decisions vary in size, but for most people, the most important decisions in life often relate to relationships, marriage, and work. However, these decisions seem far less important than how we respond to God in the end times and how we face Jesus at His Second Coming. As Pastor Gambel points out, Bernard Levin, one of the most influential columnists for “Time Magazine” in the 20th century, described his struggle in seeking Christ: "Some people, like me, hesitate at the edge of the pool, wanting to jump in but afraid ..."

Therefore, the importance of choice permeates the entire Bible. In the Book of Joel, the ancient Israelite prophet Joel reminds the Israelites and unbelieving nations that there will be a vast difference in future retribution and consequences between those who call upon the name of God and those who do not know Him. Therefore, the prophet Joel admonishes us to be prepared to face God at all times.

Both 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3 and Joel 3:14 revolve around the theme of "The Day of the Lord," conveying a message of sudden judgment to unbelievers and calling believers to be vigilant and live holy lives. Judgment is imminent, and everyone must face it: "The Day of the Lord" is a future event where everyone will stand before God, face the Savior Jesus, and be judged for their entire lives. This judgment is for all nations, not just Israel. This is not the place where people decide whether to accept Christ, but the place where God will execute the final judgment upon them.
