But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs (God’s Children) having the hope of eternal life.

Three Steps to Spiritual Healing》的讲道中,在其 “今日圣言 Holy Word Today” 专栏中引用了罗马书 Romans 2:4,强调: “...

The scripture shared in 《今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY》 is Titus 3:4-7. The Apostle Paul wanted us believers to fully understand the Christian Doctrine of Salvation. This doctrine emphasizes that God saves humanity not through our good works, but through His own grace and love, manifested through Jesus Christ, as verse 5 states, making us “Children of God through the cleansing, regeneration, and renewal of the Holy Spirit,” thus inheriting eternal life. This is by grace, not by works. This passage indirectly highlights the role of the Triune God: (1) the Love of the Father, (2) the Redemptive Work of the Son, and (3) the Renewing Power of the Holy Spirit.

In their sermon entitled "Three Steps to Spiritual Healing," Pastor Rev. Bob and Debbie Gass, in their "Holy Word Today" column, quoted Romans 2:4 to emphasize: "... don't you understand that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?" Pastor Gass went on to explain that Satan always tries to convince you that your sins are so serious that you are unworthy in God's eyes, unworthy of His love and grace, and should be completely turned away from Him. However, do not believe Satan. Pastor Gass suggests the following three steps to practice and help you recover from spiritual healing:

(1) Repentance: 1 John 4:10 describes how when a person repents, confesses, and renounces their sins, turning to God, God will show His love, forgive your sins, and you will believe that the precious blood of Jesus will cleanse you. Even if you were once a sinner, God loves you. As His redeemed child, even if you have stumbled, His love has not diminished in the slightest.

(2) Reconciliation: Matthew 5:23-24 teaches us what to do when our actions harm others: “Therefore, when you are offering a sacrifice at the altar, if you remember any brother or sister who was your enemy, leave your sacrifice there before the altar. First go and make peace with him, and then return to offer the sacrifice.” If you want God's blessing, you must follow His teachings and express your love and remorse.

(3) Refocusing: 2 Corinthians 3:18 reminds and encourages us believers: “We who no longer hide our faces are becoming like the Lord, seeing his glory and growing in glory from glory to glory, as the Spirit of the Lord does all the works.” When you focus on yourself and your failures, you are actually looking in the wrong mirror. When you fix your eyes on Christ, on His unending love and grace, you are looking in the right mirror. You will become the image you look up to. Blessed is that it is not you who changes you, but the indwelling Holy Spirit. He will continue to work, making you more and more like Jesus.

Both Titus 3:4-7 and Romans 2:4 emphasize that the Christian Doctrine of Salvation originates entirely from God's kindness, mercy, and grace, not from human works or merits. However, they focus on different aspects of the process of salvation: Romans 2:4 stresses that God's kindness is the catalyst for repentance, while Titus 3:4-7 describes this kindness as the foundation and mechanism of salvation itself. Essentially, it is God's love that prompts Him to save us, not because we deserve it, but through the Holy Spirit, through Jesus, giving us new life, cleansing us, justifying us, and giving us eternal hope.
