【061】今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY：明白神的意念 Understand God's thoughts

【SCRIPTURE 经文】：耶和华说：我的意念非同你们的意念；我的道路非同你们的道路。天怎样高过地，照样，我的道路高过你们的道路；我的意念高过你们的意念; For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (以赛亚书Isaiah 55:8-9)

This passage leads us to understand a great and comforting truth: the Creator who created the universe, shaped the stars, and even knows when every sparrow will fall, also cares for each and every one of us — His thoughts are so vast and precious that we cannot fully fathom them.

The prophet Isaiah emphasizes, "For not our thoughts are the thoughts of God, nor our ways his ways." As our Lord said in the scripture, "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are his ways higher than our ways, and his thoughts higher than our thoughts." These verses present a beautiful paradox: God's thoughts far surpass our thoughts, yet are infinitely precious to us.

The prophet Isaiah also reminds us of God's transcendence. We often try to understand God with limited logic and comprehension. Faced with life's various difficulties, we can't help but wonder why His ways are so different from ours. However, His wisdom operates on an eternal level, far beyond our human understanding. Just as the universe is far vaster than Earth, so too is His perspective on our lives, the world, and our plan of salvation.

Pastor Nicky Gumbel, in his "We Devote" column, published an article titled "I Long to Understand God's Will," in which he quoted Psalm 139:17-24. Particularly in verse 17, as a believer, he reiterated the psalmist's lament and explained and declared: "How precious are your thoughts to me, O God! How many are their numbers!" Pastor Gumbel continued: "What a wonderful blessing it is to wake in the morning and know that God is with you, to long to speak with you! As the psalmist King David prayed in Psalm 139:18: 'When I wake from my sleep, O Lord, I know that you are with me.'" King David continued his testimony, deeply worried and afraid to do anything that might offend God. Therefore, in verses 23-24 of the same Psalm, he submits to God, saying, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. See if there is any evil way in me, and guide me in the ways of eternal life.” Let us all bow our heads and pray with Pastor Gumbel, “Lord, we long to know your thoughts and will, to hear your voice. Lead us to your presence, to draw near to you.”

Therefore, as we shared in Isaiah 55:8-9 in《今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY》, we must “Understand God's Thoughts” to know his will. God loves us, he keeps his covenant, and considers us his children. God gives each believer a different purpose, including your personal life plan. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This is the grace of salvation, the reward of eternal life.
