你里头的光若黑暗了,那黑暗是何等大呢!“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
The scripture shared in《今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY》 is Mathew 6:22-23. Jesus uses the eye as a metaphor, representing our core senses — the windows of the soul. Like the lamp of the body, the eyes guide our lives, giving us focused spiritual vision, allowing us to see things as they truly are — valuing God and eternal wealth over worldly riches. Jesus teaches us that our spiritual "eyes" determine whether our lives are filled with divine light or destructive darkness. He urges us to have a clear, God-centered "healthy vision," rather than being half-hearted or blinded by worldly wealth. Otherwise, we risk spiritual blindness, becoming slaves to money and wealth, even committing punishable sins to possess them, ultimately leading to physical death, gaining nothing, and neglecting the heavenly treasure God has given us—the eternal soul and life in His presence. Therefore, we must see things as they truly are — valuing God and eternal wealth over worldly riches.
In an article titled "Window to the Soul" in his "Pure Joy" column, Pastor John Piper quotes Hebrews 12:3, pointing out that the most important gift in life is the ability God has given us to think, enabling us to focus on our Lord Jesus Christ. He endured the attacks of sinners, dying on the cross for us, so that we might not grow weary and discouraged by the ultimate salvation He has given us, ultimately leading us to eternal life in God's presence.
Thoughts are the windows of the soul. If we allow our thoughts to sink into darkness, our hearts will also be plunged into darkness. However, if we open our hearts, as John 8:12 says, Jesus is the light of the world, allowing this light to shine into us, and following the Holy Spirit whom He sent to nourish our souls, our hearts will be filled with light. “The Eye is the Lamp of the Body“; therefore, we must ask ourselves: What truly illuminates your life? Do your eyes always remain focused on the eternal light of God's Kingdom — our Savior Jesus Christ? Or are you blinded by the fleeting temptations of the world? In order to cultivate a single, clear, God-centered vision, we must follow the example of Jesus and live a life filled with true light, rather than wallowing in the abyss of darkness and turning away from the eternal salvation and grace that God has given us.
