Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this.

The scripture shared in《今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY》 is Psalm 37:3-5. Many pastors have explained this passage from King David, which contains timeless wisdom, teaching us how to trust God in the uncertainties of life, rather than worrying about evil, thus placing God first in our lives and obeying His word and teachings daily. This passage urges us believers to actively trust in God, do good, find satisfaction in Him, and entrust our life's path to Him, seeking His guidance.

Biblical scholars further explain that placing God first means prioritizing Him in all aspects of life — decision-making, time management, and relationships — rather than treating Him as an optional choice. This includes daily prayer, Bible study, and obedience to His teachings, aligning our lives with His will to obtain peace and receive His promised provision. This commitment requires us to change our daily habits, turning away from worldly idols such as money, greed, and wealth, and instead keeping God in our daily thoughts, thereby building deeper, more obedient, and more loving relationships. The promise inherent in this lifestyle is that God will provide for your needs, alleviate your anxieties, and give you meaning and peace in your life. When you rejoice in Him and follow our faith in Jesus Christ, God promises to satisfy your “heart’s desires.” This doesn’t mean you will get everything you want; rather, it means that when you rejoice in God, your desires will align with His will, and He will satisfy your new, divine desires, especially His salvation, and grant you the gift and blessing of eternal life so that you may be able to be with His Son, Jesus Christ, at His Second Coming.

Pastor Rev. Bob Gass and Mrs. Debbie Gass shared an article in their blog entitled “The Word of God Matters.” Pastor Gass quoted 2 Chronicles 34, particularly verse 30, where King Josiah of Judah gathered all his people and personally read God’s law to them, guiding them to regain their resolve to follow the principles of God’s word. The pastor encourages us not to miss this opportunity! Failure to read God’s word and follow His teachings can lead God’s people into idolatry. Anything you place above God is an “idol.” Sometimes, idolatry is a sin you commit knowingly. But it can also be something that seems perfectly reasonable: a job, a relationship, or a hobby.

In the Bible, we find the priorities God has set for our lives. If we neglect to read, study, and meditate on God’s teachings, we end up focusing only on our own interests and ignoring the priorities God has set for us, leading to our downfall in this life and our eternal life with God in the future. For example: (1) Psalm 100:3 reminds us that the Lord is God; He created us, and we belong to Him; yes, God created you. But that’s not all. It’s not the only reason we put Him first in our lives; (2) In Deuteronomy 30:19-20, Moses reveals a great truth that we sometimes overlook. When he exhorted the Israelites to be faithful to God, he especially reminded God's people, like us believers: "Choose life, that you and your offspring may live. Love the Lord your God, obey his voice and trust in him, for he is your life and your long life." Therefore, let us all "Place God First in Our Life and Follow His Word and Teachings Every Day."
