And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

The scripture shared in《今日灵粮 Spiritual FOOD TODAY》is Colossians 3:7. Regardless of the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on church ministry, personal evangelism, and the church and faith, we must always remember to first follow the Holy Spirit, sent by Christ and dwelling within us, who leads us on the right path to ultimate salvation. This verse teaches believers and followers of Christ to imitate the character of Jesus, glorifying God and acting with gratitude in all aspects of life — behavior, speech, and relationships.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is profoundly impacting church operations and individual faith. It is both a transformative tool and raises ethical questions regarding authenticity, doctrine, and interpersonal relationships. It is reported that by 2025, 45% of church leaders will use AI for administrative tasks, content creation, and, to a lesser extent, preaching.

Many biblical scholars explain and acknowledge that AI is both a powerful and controversial tool, raising complex ethical issues regarding its application in areas such as efficiency, education, and (of course) spiritual guidance. While many church leaders accept AI for administration and content creation, concerns remain about its impact on church authenticity, doctrine, interpersonal relationships, pastoral care, and theological accuracy.

Let us further explore how AI can help church ministry and foster personal faith and spiritual growth. (1) It improves ministry efficiency; over 60% of church leaders reportedly use AI for weekly tasks such as generating briefings, creating charts, and composing emails, allowing them more time to focus on human-centered ministry. (2) AI helps improve the accessibility and effectiveness of Bible study; it can assist in translating the Bible into new languages, provide personalized devotional guidance, and in some cases, even offer “AI-driven pastoral guidance.” (3) AI can also assist in preaching preparation, with many pastors using it as a “research assistant service.”

Indeed, artificial intelligence can generate, and sometimes even confidently proclaim, false or heretical information. For example, one AI-generated sermon reportedly fabricated a philosopher's quote. Superficial faith — over-reliance on AI for answers — undermines the personal effort of studying the Bible and building faith. Despite the increasing use of AI in churches, many Bible scholars and pastors remain dissatisfied. More than half of American Christians say they would be disappointed if they learned their church used AI to write sermons or conduct pastoral care. In short, AI is an “emerging field” in the church that presents both opportunities for evangelism and challenges to maintaining the vital human and relational elements of faith. Let us remember not to abandon the sincerity and truth of worship, nor the search for the true meaning of faith. As the Apostle John admonished in John 4:23, “The hour is coming, and is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such worshipers.”
