; Before Jesus ascended to heaven, he commanded his disciples to be good vessels for preaching the gospel of God. This is just like God in the Old Testament commanding the first ancestors, Adam and Eve, and the descendants of Abraham to be fruitful and multiply, to rule the world, and to be good children of God and good citizens, saying: “…, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
This morning in "今日圣言 Holy Word Today ", I read the sharing of "The Broken Arrow" written by Rev. Bob & Mrs. Debby Gass. Pastor Bob quoted Psalm 127: 4-5 to remind us of the purpose and hope of raising children, saying: " Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them ..." This is what the theme of "今日灵粮 Spiritual Food TODAY " is about to share, " Christian Parents Should Live Out the Great Commission as Disciple Makers." It’s also like Pastor Indy Crowe, discipleship pastor at Stones Crossing Church in Greenwood, Indiana, once preached a sermon about Christian parents being the disciple makers. Their goal is to fulfill in your home the great commission that Jesus instructs us in Matthew 28:18-20, by making disciples who you can then take into the world to make other disciples. They are arrows. Make sure you aim them at the right target, to be good instruments of God, to preach the gospel of the Kingdom of God, so that all people may be saved and not perish but have everlasting life.
Pastor Bob explained: God’s hope for the children we bear is like having arrows and shooting arrows; they must be taught to aim in the right direction. If their life goals are misdirected, they may later end up in violent and chaotic situations, like taking drugs and destructive lifestyles. If we ridicule or judge rather than help them, and if we do not have compassion, love, and teaching in our children, they will never be willing to ask us for help in their lives. Like broken arrows, our children and future generations will appear in various colors and forms: black, white, rich, poor, because the pain and suffering of life has no prejudice; it has no prejudice against any age group or society. People of all classes are equally ruthless. So, where is the answer we are looking for? (1) We must let the strong support the weak: The apostle Paul taught in Romans 15: 1-2 that we who are strong should bear the weakness of the weak without seeking to please ourselves. Each of us must please his neighbor so that he may benefit and build up his virtue. Because Paul has not forgotten the teaching in Matthew 14: 14, how the Savior Christ saw the misfortunes and suffering of the world with compassion, just like healing those who were sick: "Jesus ... had compassion on them in his heart, and He healed the sick among them."; (2) Therefore, mercy is the mother of miracles! Mark 4: 38 tells us how open-minded the Savior Jesus’ compassionate and loving heart is. When the disciples thought they would die in a violent storm, they did not challenge Christ’s teaching ability, but Challenging His mercy: So, they cried out to their master Jesus, "Why don't you care?" If Jesus had not been merciful at this moment, there would be no recorded miracles of calming the storm.
You can only bring healing to someone when you are touched by their pain, rather than disgusted by their symptoms. One author writes: “We can build all the churches we want. However, if people cannot hear the voice of love in our sacred halls, they will not be converted by our platitudes and religious rhetoric. The church is not a club for the rich, but a hospital for those who need healing and deliverance. You do not have to like everything about the people you are called to minister to, but you do have to love them because God loves them.” We are called to those who have been abandoned by the world gather together so that they may feel the warmth of God's love and the love of the Christian family. Because their loss is important to God, if they can repent, return to God’s arms and be saved, this is what God expects. Because Malachi 3: 17 records and preaches God’s unchangeable ways and fraternity: “‘On the day when I act,’ says the LORD Almighty, ‘they will be my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him.’” Happy Friday everyone and have a great welcoming New Year Celebration this weekend with many blessing to come!
When all was said and done, "今日灵粮 Spiritual Food TODAY" would like to quote Proverbs 17: 6, and encourage every one of us to pray for each other in the love of the Lord. This verse from King Solomon's Proverbs says, "Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children." From this we can see how important it is to have children and educate them. In his sharing, Pastor Bob described God’s desire for the children we give birth to as having arrows and shooting arrows, and they must be taught to aim in the right direction. Ms. Anna Meade Harris wrote an article and shared it with Rooted Ministry in memory of how God instructs us to teach our children about the things of God in Deuteronomy 6: 4-9. She said: "According to the Bible, God hopes that parents can become the main disciples of their children." Therefore, the conclusion of today's spiritual food and the quotation of Proverbs 17: 6 also indirectly remind us that it means education. Regarding the importance of children and grandchildren, remember that children are an inheritance given by God. “Christian Parents Should Live Out the Great Commission as Disciple Makers.” Pray that God will help us not only teach our children to aim their arrows and live in the right direction, but also to be good instruments for God to deliver the gospel and lead more people to believe in Jesus our Lord. Pray in the name of the Lord, Amen!
